Pickers Catering
We're Guy and Suzy Pickthall, the husband-and-wife team behind Pickers Catering, based in the village of North Cadbury, Somerset. We are both passionate about food and hospitality. We love to travel and explore new and different cultures, which we can bring home to inspire both our home life and business ideas.
More about us
Guy was born in London but grew up in Bruton, going to school there too — and it was during those school years that he was affectionately nicknamed "Pickers," a name that's stuck with him ever since (and now, fittingly, gives the business its own). From a young age, he knew he wanted to be a chef. Since leaving school, he's honed his craft in high-end restaurants and pubs, travelling the world to do it — building a deep, versatile skill set that lets him turn his hand to anything from delicate canapés to a full seated wedding breakfast, always rooted in fresh, seasonal ingredients. It was during a stint working in the Alps that he met Suzy, in 2012.
Suzy was born in Manchester and grew up in Yorkshire, working in hospitality from a young age before working as a self-taught chef herself, including that same stint in the Alps — which is where she and Guy crossed paths. But it was the summer months spent in Cornwall managing and coordinating events for a catering company that shaped her into the planner she is today: someone who combines a chef's understanding of food with a genuine gift for organising every last detail.
Together since 2014, we've built Pickers Catering around that combination — Guy's depth of culinary craft, Suzy's chef's eye paired with flawless event command — so every wedding, private event, and corporate function benefits from exceptional food and effortless execution alike.
Now, after over a decade of building our reputation together, we're leaning further into what we each do best: Guy channelling his passion into fine food and creating new dishes, and Suzy putting her entrepreneurial and organisational skills to work growing the wedding business. It's a balance that keeps things fresh for us both — bringing more variety and versatility across everything we do, while never losing sight of why we started Pickers in the first place.
